Five Versions of Salt River

Prepare to receive your mixolydian fix! I have just posted transcriptions of five versions of Salt River, which bluegrassers sometimes call Salt Creek, from the following fiddlers:

  • Wilson Douglas
  • Norman Edmonds
  • Ed Haley
  • Clark Kessinger
  • Benny Thomasson

All of these transcriptions can be found in the Salt River tune group. I would have to say that Kessinger’s version is my favourite of the lot.

Happy fiddling!

Five Clark Kessinger Waltzes

Taking a break from posting in alphabetical order, I decided to post a batch of waltzes from West Virginia fiddler Clark Kessinger:

  • Sweet Bunch of Daisies
  • Tennessee Waltz
  • Three O’Clock in the Morning
  • The Waltz you Saved For Me
  • Wednesday Night Waltz

These are all challening, featuring either tricky timing or difficult double-stops. They can all be found in the Clark Kessinger Collection.

Happy fiddling!
