Five Benny Thomasson Reels

I have just posted transcriptions of five reels from Texas fiddler Benny Thomasson:

  • Bennett’s Reel
  • Miller’s Reel
  • Mother’s Reel
  • Opera Reel
  • Ostinelli’s Reel

These transcriptions may be found in the Benny Thomasson Collection. Although this isn’t the highly pyrotechnic fiddling for which Thomasson is famous, material such as this seems to have made up the bulk of his repertoire. These transcriptions are useful in that they show Thomasson’s approach to a tune, and they aren’t exactly easy arrangements (especially Ostinelli’s, which is quite challenging).

Happy fiddling!

Ten Clark Kessinger Transcriptions

I am back from my few weeks’ break, and have just posted ten transcriptions to the Clark Kessinger Collection:

  • Lonesome Road Blues
  • Long-Eared Mule
  • Marching Through Georiga
  • Mary Jane Waltz
  • McCloud’s Reel
  • Mexican Waltz

  • Mississippi Sawyer

These transcriptions are a nice mix of breakdowns and waltzes, also including a rag and a march. Enjoy!
