I would like to dedicate this post to my father.  This was one of his favorite fiddle tunes. He taught it to me under the name The Pattyroller Song.  Doc Roberts knew the tune by a different name, which contained a racial epithet.  The publisher wisely replaced the epithet with "Smoke."  (I have also seen this tune called Run, Johnny, Run and Run, Boy, Run.)  The tune is supposed to evoke a runaway slave being chased by a mounted patrolman (pattyroller).

The only difficulty in this tune is the B-C-C# triplet followed by a D.  This can be challenging to play cleanly.
