Comments:

If you are bored with Cripple Creek, give this version a try.  One of the hallmarks of a good fiddler, in my opinion, is the ability to take a simple tune and make it interesting.  Doc Roberts certainly did so with Cripple Creek.  Far too many fiddlers and banjoists write this tune off as a beginner's tune.  But if great fiddlers such as Doc Roberts, Clark Kessinger, and Melvin Wine played it and recorded it, then it's good enough for Dr. Fiddle!

This tune is also an excellent starting point for learning the Texas style of playing. Watch what Oklahoma fiddler, Gary Sizemore does with it on his YouTube video.
