Comments:

This is either a really cool or really annoying tune, depending on whether or not you enjoy hillbilly novelty tunes.  In this recording, Gid Tanner used the fiddle to imitate the cackling of a hen.  As if that wasn't enough, he also vocally imitated hens and roosters.  The fiddle part isn't too difficult, but it does go up to a high D and a high E.  Parts of it sound somewhat like Cluck Old Hen.

This tune became one of fiddling Cubby Wise's show tunes under the title of " Chubby's Cacklin Hen". Check it out on the cd, "The world's Greatest Country Fiddlers".
