Recording on the album Lewis Thomasson: Old Texas Fiddle Tunes Played the Old Way

As of this writing, Bush in the Shucks is my favorite breakdown. I love fiddling this tune and get into a sort of groove. According to the Fiddler’s Companion, this tune was written by Luke Thomasson, Lewis and Benny Thomasson’s father who also wrote Midnight on the Water, after seeing a family friend by the name of John Bush “rummaging around in the corn cobs and shucks near the outhouse.” This tune is quite challenging, but highly rewarding.

Tune to DDAD.

This is my PaPaw and it takes me back to my childhood when he would play for his grandkids. We loved him so much!
