According to the Fiddler’s Companion, West Virginia fiddler Clark Kessinger “constructed” this tune “from parts of different tunes.” He recorded it in 1929. The title refers to Kanawha County, West Virginia.

The tune consists of three parts of (generally) two lines each, with variations in every part in every repetition of the tune.
