Comments:

The Fiddler’s Companion states that the rag Echoes of the Ozarks is related to the song Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane. I originally learned Log Cabin on the banjo and I can hear some similarities, but Echoes is definitely a distinct tune that Moore plays wonderfully. The only real difficulty in this rag comes in the B part, with some potentially tricky double-stops. The B part the second time through includes some high notes, going up to a high D. Moore also samples George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (my favorite orchestral and piano piece) in the second line of the B part the second time through.
