Comments:

The Fiddler’s Companion reports that the origin of Shannon Waltz is disputed between Canada and Texas, with well-known recordings coming from Don Messer and the East Texas Serenaders. Moore says in the source video that he learned it from Texas fiddler Norman Solomon. Moore played it in three parts, structured AA B C AA C. The C part has some high notes, going up to a high E. As with all of Moore’s waltzes, the timing is tricky and difficult if not nigh impossible to represent in standard notation, so listen closely when playing the video. Beware of three speeds of triplets: standard triplets over eighth notes, fast triplets over sixteenth notes, and slow triplets over quarter notes.
