While Georgia fiddler Gid Tanner normally focused on his overall minstrelsy rather than on his fiddling, he was actually a good fiddler when he concentrated on it. It really shows in his version of Cumberland Gap, which is a pretty nice setting of this widespread tune. Try this one if you’re bored with the usual settings. Look out for sixteenth notes and grace notes.
