Boatin’ Down the River is another simple, catchy tune from Missouri fiddler Gene Goforth. Or at least the B part is simple, with one phrase repeated many times. Goforth actually used some very interesting bowing in the A part, interesting enough that I have included bowing notation where it occurs. The pattern starts with the pickup note, and then changes direction at the second note in the following measure. (I am not using the bowing symbols in this case to necessarily indicate bow direction so much as where to change direction.)
