I’m not really sure if Kessinger’s rendition of Birdie qualifies as a breakdown or not. The B part could certainly pass for a breakdown, but the A part is something else entirely. It is not consistent between repetitions of the tune, and is crooked (with two extra beats showing up there and there). It utilizes triplets, both over eight notes and over sixteenth notes, to imitate the twittering of a bird. This tune sounds as if it might be somewhat related to Gary Lee Moore’s Birdie, but it’s obviously not the same tune. I personal prefer Moore’s version. Kessinger’s version is the same tune as Melvin Wine’s Birdie.
