Oklahoma fiddler Orville Burns (mentor to Gary Lee Moore) played a challenging version of Durang’s Hornpipe as a four-part tune. In the recording, Burns can be heard denying that he can play this tune, then he throws down this marvelous rendition. I think that Burns sometimes played high notes (such as E and F#) on the second string while droning a D or an F# on the third string.
