I don’t know much about this tune, and neither did Gene Goforth. According to John Hartford in the liner notes to the Eminence Breakdown album, Goforth “said his Dad played it and he didn't know what it was ... so we named it after Gene's Dad.” (Gene Goforth’s father’s nickname was Dink.)

The A part consists of a single one-line phrase repeated a variable number of times (three, five, and three, to be precise). The B part is well defined, however. Look out for passages where you have to hold an A on the third string while playing melody on the second string.
