Comments:

Bush in the Shucks is one of my favourite tunes. According to the Fiddler’s Companion, this tune was written by Luke Thomasson, Benny’s father, who also wrote Midnight on the Water, after seeing a family friend by the name of John Bush “rummaging around in the corn cobs and shucks near the outhouse.” Bush in the Shucks was also recorded by Benny’s brother Lewis. Benny’s version is very similar to Lewis’, but slightly more complex. There is a nice octave melody in the low version of the D part, and some interesting chords in the high version of the D part.

Tune to DDAD.
